Contra Costa County Jail

Visitor Policy

Interview with Tom

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Tom: On regular modules you can choose to have one hour long visit or 2 seperate half hour visits. On t module you get an hour and a half worth of visits broken down to a one time hour and a half or up to 3 30 minute visits. On t module the cops will pretty much allow you to visit as long as you wish or until there is somebody else waiting.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Tom: The visitors have to be pre-approved and approved again each time they come visit. The initial approval is a background check and subsequent approvals are just for scheduling purposes. they have to arrive 30 minutes early to check in so it is a little bit of a hassle.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Tom: Private. Single rooms thru bulletproof glass and talking thru tiny holes in the frame of the window. It is usually really hard to hear and be heard. But it is semi private so it is overall a fairly nice environment
