Contra Costa County Jail

Closing Advice

Interview with Tom

JM: Is there anything else you would want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to jail?
Tom: It is a rough place and it is important to offer as much support as possible either by accepting calls keeping a little bit of money available or corressponding by mail. It is a very stressful place compared to other jails and a lot of moral support helps alot

JM: Is there anything else you would recommend to a future inmate?
Tom: Stay out of gangs. Do not involve yourself in anything that does not affect you. Do not talk to the cops too much or others will think you are a snitch. Stay away from any temptation to use any kind of drugs. Always talk to the cops as you wish them to speak to you. If 1 cop does not like you it will get to that other cops that you are a trouble maker and the will give you a hard time. Do not do anything to violate known gang space.
